TSL Tip: A Simple Check To Ensure You Have The Right Fall Arrest Lanyard

Working at heights exposes workers to many hazards. To ensure everyone’s safety, it is paramount that each worker has the appropriate PPE and safety training.

Here is a simple TSL Tip to ensure you have the right fall arrest lanyard for your job.

Per ANSI/ASSEZ359.13-2013, the ANSI standard for Personal Energy Absorbers and Energy Absorbing Lanyards, each lanyard should have a label stating whether it is a 6 ft. or a 12 ft. Free Fall lanyard. ANSI requires the labels to be color codedA 6 ft. FF lanyard is required to have a white label with black lettering and the 12 ft. FF lanyard is required to have a black label with white lettering. If your fall arrest lanyard label appears to be in conflict with the ANSI standard, we recommend that you follow your company’s protocol for addressing safety concerns or speak to your supervisor.
